📚 Book club read: Lilith by Nikki Marmery | This is one of few books from our list this year that I haven’t read. I love a good feminist retelling of an ancient myth, and I’m looking forward to diving into the story of Adam’s first wife.

📚 In the middle of reading: Crash into Me by Robinne Lee | Fun fact, my very first smut book was the Idea of You, back in 2020. I loved it. I’m not very far into this one yet, but looking forward to seeing how it compares!

📚 Just finished: The Road to Tender Hearts by Annie Hartnett | I’m not going to lie, this one was really overhyped for me. We read it for my IRL book club and I will say I appreciated it more after the discussion. I think it’s helpful to know that she used a ton of her own intrusive thoughts throughout the book (don’t want to spoil anything but I think this is good to keep in mind as you read, it does make it more funny). And I think this might be best consumed in audio format!

📚 Seasonal read: End of summer is tough on my nervous system. I find that August and September are tough months, weather wise in San Diego it’s the worst (hot, humid, no AC..). So today I’m going to suggest poetry as a means of slowing down and regulating your nervous system. Drew Jackson is one of my favorite poets. Pick up a copy of his book, Touch the Earth as we start to transition into Autumn.

📚 Timely recommendation: My friend (!!) Gemma Hartley’s new book releases September 22. It’s called No One Loves an Angry Woman, and it’s available for pre-order. If you identify as exvangelical and it would feel cathartic to read about another woman’s rage, I highly recommend this book. There is so much that I resonated with.
