5 Books...

šŸ“š Book club read: This month in the Faithfully Dissident Book Club we are reading God is a Black Woman by Christena Cleveland. Christena’s work has been hugely influential on helping me find the freedom to see God through my own lens. Can’t wait to discuss this one with the group. Join us on Friday, February 27 and on WhatsApp throughout the year.

šŸ“š In the middle of reading: Grape Juice by Eliza Dumais. This isn’t my fav of the 831 Stories titles, but I absolutely have a friend that I’ve been meaning to text and tell her to read it. Always love a good mental escape, though, so I’m here for it.

šŸ“š Just finished: Show Don’t Tell by Curtis Sittenfeld | This was my IRL book club's pick, which is interesting because it’s a collection of short stories. There’s a short story centered around the idea of the Billy Graham/Mike Pence rule, which obviously reminded me of one of my favorite comedy bits ever: Mike Pence looks like a clear gummy bear.

šŸ“š Seasonal Read: It’s Black History Month! And Valentine’s Day Month! Read a Tia Williams title; my favorite by her is Seven Days in June.

šŸ“š Timely recommendation: A Fever in the Heartland by Timothy Egan | If you need help understanding how the current ICE operations are possible in the United States, this book will reveal the ways in which it has a deeply rooted history.

What are you reading? Have you read any of these? I'd love to hear back from you; just hit reply!
