5 Books...

📚 Book club read: For March we are reading the Book of Longings by Sue Monk Kidd. It’s become my new Lent tradition to read this one and also watch the Mary Magdalene movie with Rooney Mara during Holy Week. Those two together create a beautiful picture of the life and death of Christ through the eyes of women. You can still jump in and join us for book club. Details here.

📚 In the middle of reading: Counterweights, by my dear friend Shannan Martin. It’s coming out at the end of the month and I feel so pleased to be getting to read it early. To know Shannan’s writing is to love Shannan’s writing. I encourage you to pre-order a copy!

📚 Just finished: Before We Were Strangers by Renee Carlino – I’m calling this “research” for my own second chance romance novel. This one was pretty good, but not my fav in the genre!

📚 Seasonal read: We’re well into Lent, but it’s never too late to jump in. Here’s my Lent reco: Blessed Is the Body Disability Justice and the Community of Christ

📚 Timely recommendation: The Tragedy of Heterosexuality by Jane Ward. That title...I know. But, just hear me out, haha. A podcast I listened to recommended this book so I went in with an open mind. Jane, as a lesbian, positions herself as an “ally” to straight people, especially women. Some of the history of heterosexuality was really interesting, and I think we probably do need to continue to reckon with the origins of marriage (ie, women were property) so that hetero relationships can move forward on more equal footing.

What are you reading? Have you read any of these? I'd love to hear back from you; just hit reply!
